Summer is finally here! ☀️ Are you as excited as we are?

We know how much kids look forward to summer break. But we also know things are a bit different right now, since your child is probably already spending lots of time at home.

That’s why this year, we’re introducing the Prodigy Summer Question Quest

We want to keep your child learning and exploring fun Prodigy worlds all summer, so they can start the new school year ready to learn more!

Our goal is for every Prodigy player to work together, from now until August 31st, to answer a grand total of 500 million questions. Your child will join forces with friends and players all around the world to achieve this goal together. Talk about teamwork!

And to add even more incentive, kids will get an exciting in-game reward at the end of the summer if we reach our goal. 👀

Challenge your child to take the pledge and join the Summer Question Quest!

Keep your child learning all summer

The Summer Question Quest is a great opportunity to keep your child entertained and getting productive screen time (when they’re not playing outside, of course).

Plus, it’s a great way to stay involved in your child’s education. They’ll keep learning all summer so they can start the school year confident and prepared for the next grade level.

Summer learning is especially important this year. Children can lose up to two weeks of learning gains in summer, according to research from the NWEA. And due to COVID-19 school closures, they predict children to return with less than 50% of the learning gains they made this school year. This “COVID slide” is expected to hit even harder in math.

But since Prodigy is proven to boost results in math, the Summer Question Quest will keep your child engaged with learning all summer and help them thrive next school year instead!

Here’s what you can do to motivate your child to participate:

1. Encourage your child to play Prodigy

It may sound simple, but the easiest way to motivate your child is to encourage them to play!

Tell your child all about the Summer Question Quest and the special reward waiting for them at the end.

Suggest Prodigy when it’s time for:

  • Quiet time at home
  • Daily screen time
  • A reward for good behavior

Or whatever else fits your family best!

Soon enough, they’ll be more than willing to log in and go on a new Prodigy adventure every day.

That’s a win for you too, since more time playing = more time learning!

2. Support them with your Prodigy parent account

Prodigy parents use their parent accounts to stay informed on their child’s progress, gain helpful insights to support them, and motivate them to learn more in Prodigy. And you can too!

If you don’t already have a parent account, sign up and link to your child’s account. This is the easiest way to see what they’re up to and stay actively involved in their learning.

Here’s how:

3. Set regular goals throughout summer

Big goals are often much easier to achieve when they’re broken down into smaller steps.

Try setting a personal goal for the number of questions your child will answer this summer.

Once you’ve decided your larger goal, set smaller goals and track their progress each week.

Regular, more attainable goals are a great way to:

  • Help children develop a growth mindset
  • Ensure your larger objectives are on track
  • Keep your child motivated to reach all their goals

During the Summer Question Quest, there are a couple of ways you can set realistic weekly goals to support your child as they help us reach our ultimate goal:

Set Goals and send Rewards from your parent account

Your parent account lets you send in-game Goals, making it easy to motivate your child.

To set a new Goal, sign into your account and visit the Goal overview section of your parent dashboard.

Choose the number of questions you want your child to answer in Prodigy. For example, set a goal of 20 questions and encourage them to complete it within the week.

When your child completes their Goal, you’ll be prompted to send a Reward from your parent dashboard. This gives them a fun surprise item to enjoy in the game! Rewards are an awesome incentive for keeping kids excited to answer more math questions in Prodigy.

Visually track progress

You can track your child’s progress outside of the game, too — and we made it easy for you with our printable tracker!

Each week, write your child’s question goal at the top and break it down into smaller goals. Then, stick the tracker to your fridge or pin it on a bulletin board — it’ll inspire your child to keep playing Prodigy and answering math questions!

They’ll love getting to color the thermometer as they hit their targets. Plus, they can actually see their progress as they get closer and closer to their ultimate goal.

And the final step?

Enjoy your summer!

Once you do the steps above, your child will love playing Prodigy whenever they can. This means you can have a blast enjoying summer activities and see how much they love practicing math!

At the end of the summer (or when their overall goal is complete), present your child with this certificate to recognize all their hard work.

Our goal of 500 million questions for the Summer Question Quest is a lofty one, but we’re confident that with our amazing Prodigy players and parents, we can reach (or even exceed) this goal with ease.

Don’t forget to stay in touch with us on social media. Follow #ProdigySummerQuestionQuest for regular updates on our progress. We can’t wait to share our results!
