Design Systems Engineer
About Prodigy
Overview:
- Here at Prodigy, we are working hard to achieve our mission of helping every child in the world to LOVE learning. Our Engineering teams are scaling rapidly as we continue to hit our product and growth milestones, and it’s an exciting time for the company! To continue our exponential growth we are building an internal design system to enable all our teams to create high quality, consistent and accessible experiences. We are looking for an engineer to help build and maintain the design system / component library, UX accessibility and dependency management across all our products.
Your Impact:
- Adopt appropriate technologies which will enable a highly maintainable system for all our teams to utilize
- Develop and maintain reusable components that serve as the building blocks of both internal and external facing products
- Work closely with designers to build systems, patterns and tooling which drive high quality, performance and accessibility
- Write valuable documentation to be used by product teams
- Work closely with product teams to assess their needs and translate them into features that properly fit within the design system
- Mentor engineers on best practices in front end development, especially component reusability, accessibility and performance
Who You Are:
- You have 3+ years working with modern frontend web frameworks and maintain CSS
- You enjoy being the maintainer of a service for other teams and enabling them to achieve their goals
- You have a strong understanding of atomic design, composition and reusability within the React ecosystem
- You thrive being on the cutting edge of web application development including various styling technologies, libraries, best practices and tooling
- You have a familiarity with WCAG Accessibility 2.0 standards and have a passion for developing products which are inclusive and accessible for all
- You pride yourself in attention to detail and have a passion for being at the intersection of design and technology
- Bonus points for being a part of an open source community
- Bonus points if you've previously built or maintained a design system
